How can we inform the students and parents of East Laurens Elementary about the benefits of recycling and convince them to recycle at home?
The first lesson would require students to use the internet to research the advantages of recycling on our environment. The students will record their information individually in a recycling notebook.
The second lesson would require students to collaboratively develop questions to interview a guest speaker from a local landfill to learn what materials can be recycled and how people can start recycling at home. The students will also record this information in their recycling notebook. The students will then use the information their personal recycling notebook to develop a wiki page that can be accessed by the public.
The third lesson will require students to collaborate to produce a powerpoint presentation that contains all the information gathered about the benefits of recycling on our environment and how to get started. The presentation will also include a podcast of the interview conducted with the guest speaker. This presentation will be shared to the entire school with the intent to convince students to start recycling at home. The students will also work together to make posters to post around the school in order to promote recycling.
